Yoga retreat in the Alps

Yoga retreats in the Alps: Savoie, Haute-Savoie and Isère, between mountain lakes, alpine pastures and valleys.

The mountain imposes its own rhythm, and that’s exactly what we come to find here. In the valleys of the Isère, the Vercors, or Savoie, retreats settle into lodges and chalets perched above the noise of the world: we practise facing the summits, walk between alpine pastures and spruce forests, and bathe in lakes whose coolness puts our thoughts in order. The fresh air does half the work, sleep deepens from the first night, appetite returns, and the body recalibrates to the light. The places I have selected in the Alps offer this experience without pretence: small groups, mountain cuisine reimagined with plant-based ingredients, and real free time to let the landscape take effect. Summer is obvious here; the quieter winter season offers a cosy retreat, between snow, silence, and wood fire.

Good to know

  • Average budget: €500 to €900 per week, full board
  • Best season: June to September for the alpine pastures; winter for a cosy retreat by the fire
  • Access: Grenoble, Chambéry or Annecy train stations, then shuttle or taxi depending on the location

Frequently asked questions

Can we do a yoga retreat in the mountains in winter?

Yes, it’s even a special format: short days, more inward practice, wood fire and the hush of snow. Simply check access to the venue, some villages require suitable equipment in season.

Do retreats in the Alps require a good level of fitness?

No. The hikes offered adapt to the group and the practice remains accessible to all levels. The altitude of the selected locations, often between 600 and 1 200 m, poses no particular problem.
